Emilio and Adamo Spinozzi are taking the Speedmaster Chevelle Pro Slammer to the Northern Territory for the first time and can’t wait for the experience of competing at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Drag Strip.

The new 400 Thunder season commences this Friday and Saturday at Nitro Up North, an event that has built a reputation for great atmosphere and exciting racing. Emilio Spinozzi said the whole team is excited to be attending a venue new to them and launch their series push in strong fashion.

“We’ve done much of our racing at Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway and they are great venues, but there is something special about going to a track for the first time,” he explained.

“Hidden Valley Drag Strip is held in high regard by our fellow competitors and we know it is a quality track surface combined with tropical weather conditions.”

Spinozzi is currently in search of his first five second pass and with many teams having achieved that magic mark at Hidden Valley, he is confident of a breakthrough.

“Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was a brand new Pro Slammer tune up,” he said. “Our approach right now is always positive. We will either run that first five second pass or we will learn a whole lot of new information trying. Regardless of the result, our team will be all the better for the experience.”

As well as racing a 3000 horsepower Pro Slammer, the New South Wales-based Speedmaster team will also be taking some time to enjoy Darwin’s unique attractions while there.

“Darwin has a lot to offer tourists so I hope we get to spend at least a bit of time checking out the city and the surrounds during Nitro Up North before we get back to business in Sydney next week,” Spinozzi said.

Spinozzi will be taking on a classy Pro Slammer field that includes new champion Paul Mouhayet, eleven times national champion John Zappia and six times national champion Victor Bray, plus Ben Bray, Matt Abel, Marty Dack, Mark Hinchelwood, Sam Fenech, Daniel Gregorini, Kelvin Lyle and the USA’s Frankie Taylor.

Spinozzi thanked team sponsors Speedmaster, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Nicsons Concrete, Torco Oils, LJ Hooker Commercial Macarthur, Soligo Concrete, Sloanebuilt Trailers, Pasta Italia, Optimum Fire, Planned Signs, Kemps Creek Mitre 10, Western Filters, Speedflow, Al’s Race Glides, Smithfield Diff and Gearbox, Race Teknix and Corfield Media Solutions for their continued support.
