Queensland Pro Stock racer Shane Tucker has officially made his first NHRA field, qualifying 16th for the Circle K Winternationals this weekend in Pomona, California.

Tucker’s time of 6.594 was more than enough to get him on to the bump spot, leaving 17th placed Paul Pittman out in the cold with a 6.676.

The field is headed by Vincent Nobile’s 6.510, who Tucker will face in the first round tomorrow.

Tucker’s pass came in the third qualifying session, with the fourth qualifying session seeing him abort the pass due to tyre shake.

“Couldn’t get a full pass on Q4, blew the tyres off and had a shot at driving through it. On the positive side we are through in position 16,” he said.

Fellow Australians David Grubnic and Richie Crampton also qualified for Top Fuel
