RaceMAX Direct were proud to be associated with Tony Wilson Racing and their return to competition in the Modified dial your own bracket.

Tony’s Bob Meyer built dragster was a championship winning car in the tough NHRA Super Comp 8.90 fixed index class. Tony bought the car turn key and imported it into Australia last year with the aim of running Modified Eliminator at local events.

Tony had previously campaigned at 27-T Roadster in Modified 7 years ago and having taken out the Sydney Dragway Track Championship during the 2007-08 season. Tony chose the second round of this year’s Atura Championship Series at Sydney Dragway to debut the car.

After a shut off licensing pass, Tony’s first full pass netted a 8.044 @ 165 mph placing him solidly in the 19 car field. Tony was quick to get used to the modern day electronics cutting killer reaction times of .001 and a perfect .000 along the way.

After going several rounds of eliminations he eventually fell in the semi finals – one of the final 3 cars left in the field. Tony’s .042 reacted 8.248 (8.00 dial in) was beaten by a .220 reacted 8.216 (8.17 dial in) from his opponent and eventual event winner Ally Evans. The debut final berth went begging as Tony had lifted early to avoid a breakout giving his opponent the chance to drive past for the narrow .024 sec win.

At the end of the day Team RaceMAX were very pleased with the car and driver’s performances. The car is absolutely stunning and will win races in the not too distant future.
