With the popularity of radial racing quickly coming of age in Australia, the Jamboree delivered some record breaking performances.

It was a bittersweet event for Nikki Hepburn, the young flyer hammered her personal best in the Toyota 86 to become the quickest and fastest import on radials in the world with a 7.02 at 206mph. Unfortunately the day ended badly when in the Pro Turbo final with the 86 impacting the wall heavily chasing that six second ET. Nikki was fortunately unhurt in the incident and are already repairing the car.

RX3s are common site at the Jamboree, but not ones like this with a thumping twin turbo 427ci LSX shoehorned in. Driven by Nathan Farrugia and tuned by the boys at Castle Hill Exhaust, the pocket rocket smashed out its first six second double ton lap followed by another four of them - the best being 6.85 @ 205mph.

This made the RX3 the quickest RX3 in the world, and the quickest LS powered car in Australia outright.

Former holder of that record Gerry Sarafoglou in the C&V Performance ute has been playing with a new toy from the house of C&V - a twin turbo LS powered VE animal on radials. After a barrage of testing this week that just saw the car's first 7 second lap, elapsed times continued to be plundered down to a 7.03 @ 209mph best pass during the Jamboree.

The 209mph speed let Sarafoglou hang on to one half his outright LS record and it was all done on radials.

Profab's Joe Gauci was hired gun to drive Glen Forster's twin Turbo Muzzy. The Mustang went to third on Australia's quickest outright radial tyre list with a 6.62 at a mere 196mph, but in doing so, the eighth mile time - which these radial cars are accustomed to on the world scale - was a 4.35 ta 179mph and the quickest recorded in the land.
