Dom Lagana’s return to race for Rapisarda Autosport International at the Sydney Dragway Nitro Thunder meeting on May 5-6 will cap off a frantic week for the New York-based Top Fuel star.

Last weekend Lagana raced at the Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina and qualified 13th, then finished third in the second round to narrowly miss a spot in the final.

“We stayed on at Charlotte until Monday afternoon to help license Ashley Sanford who races a Top Alcohol dragster,” said Lagana. “Then, I get to drive the truck and trailer back to Indianapolis, that’s around 1000km, then jump on a plane and head to Sydney. If all goes to plan I should arrive on Thursday morning.

“Lee Beard stayed on in Australia after the last round at Willowbank and I’m confident he will have the car fully prepped to go racing. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem adjusting to racing a quarter mile in Sydney after running 1000 foot last weekend in Charlotte. I’m a purist at heart and love the extra race distance.

“It’s a long way to travel but all worthwhile. I really enjoy coming to Australia to race and hang out with Santo, his boys and the Rapisarda family.”
