Kerry Tremayne has reflected on the performances of his sons and the MEGA Racing Pro Stock team following a successful, but rollercoaster, season.
Aaron and Tyronne Tremayne finished one and two in the series but racing around the country did not come without headaches.
The opening event was more Panadol than champagne, as Tyronne’s new ride developed an electrical gremlin which plagued the car for three meetings and a broken valve spring hurt Aaron’s car and saw him unable to contest the final.
“The next three meetings were a turn around for Aaron with a dominant performance and three wins,” Kerry said. “Tyronne struggled through the next two not being able to put down a representative pass, due to that unknown problem and the car misfiring.
“With Nitro Thunder coming up an all out effort was made to find the problem which included a trip to the team’s chassis dyno (an unusual step for a Pro Stock car).”
Come Nitro Thunder, Tyronne’s car seemed to be healthy and he went to the runner up spot, stopped only by brother Aaron who had enough points then to wrap up the 400 Thunder Pro Stock Championship.
All that was left was a Winternationals win. The rollercoaster ride was not over just yet and while Tyronne Tremayne top qualified with a 6.96, disaster struck for Aaron with a DNQ.
“It was the first time in his drag racing career Aaron has not qualified, due to a mysterious misfire.”
The problem was later tracked down to faulty spark plugs.
“With his top qualifying effort, Tyronne cemented his second position in the championship and another one – two for the the team.”
The these days also includes a third member – Rolinia Tremayne. She stepped up to Competition in her dragster and qualified fourth with a four tenths under 7.24 in B/DA.
