The full 2016 / 2017 ANDRA Championship Drag Racing calendar has been released ahead the Central Swing through the Northern Territory to start the season.
The season openers for the ANDRA Drag Racing Series and Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will take place in Darwin at Hidden Valley Drag Strip as part of the Nitro Up North event on July 8-9.
One week later on 16-17 July the Desert Nationals at Alice Springs Inland Dragway will see the debut of Group One Top Doorslammer action while playing host to the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series for the fourth year in a row.
Sportsman racers will then contest events at Mildura Sunset Strip in October and Calder Park Raceway in November before re-joining the ANDRA Drag Racing Series at Adelaide International Raceway in December.
While it was preferable to run the Springnationals in October, a clash with another event in Adelaide at that time dictated a new date was determined in December for an event at AIR (this will not be called the Springnationals).
South Coast Raceway in Portland Victoria will once again serve as a Sportsman precursor on January 21-22 to the Australian Nationals to be held at Calder Park Raceway one week later on January 28-29.
Swan Hill Dragway will make its debut with a Sportsman event February 18-19 followed by Warwick Dragway February 25-26, Whyalla March 11-12 and the ANDRA Championship Grand Final back at Adelaide International Raceway April 1-2.
Additional events may be added at a later date and as a result the calendar is subject to change.

Points Caps:
Competitors may accrue points at any or every round in the championship. Points will be capped at 300 for competitors in groups 2, 3 and 4 prior to the final event of the season. Points accrued at the final event will be added to these to determine Champions.
Travel Bonus Points: A 50% bonus for points scored at the Hidden Valley or Alice Springs events (whichever one earned the highest points) will be awarded where at least one additional Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series Round is contested in the same season.
