The 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series, in conjunction with the Sunraysia Drag Racing Club, is excited to confirm that the Championship Series will feature at Mildura’s Sunset Strip on March 11th and 12th 2023.

The event will also feature 50% Bonus points for all categories, to encourage participation and also to help mitigate the loss of other events for racers in the Southern States.

“I would like to thank Kingsley Kuchel and his team from the SDRA for being so accommodating when we approached them with our proposal,” 400 Thunder Communications Manager Rusty Gregory said today. “With the loss of several other sportsman series events scheduled in the early part of 2023 for our Southern Racers, it was important for us to find a venue which could accommodate our Sportsman Championship”.

Thunder at the Sunset Strip will also feature the Ken Scroop Memorial which has become a fixture on the Sunset Strip Calendar – with the winner of Super Street at this event to receive the Ken Scroop Memorial Trophy in addition to the 400 Thunder Aeroflow Gold Christmas Tree.

All Sportsman Categories (with the exception of Real Street due to differences in sanctioning body technical regulations) will be offered for competitor entry, and the event will be the first time that the 400 Thunder Series has scheduled an event under an ANDRA sanction since 2018.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday March 11th, with race day scheduled for Sunday March 12th. At least 4 qualifying runs will be offered as many 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series competitors have not competed at Mildura’s 1/8th Mile Sunset Strip before.

Competitors without current ANDRA licensing and accreditation are asked to contact the ANDRA Head Office on (08) 8271 5355 regarding single event licensing options. ANDRA have also offered a 2023 Special Purpose License and Logbook for NSW & QLD racers valid from March to December this year for $170 to assist racers in need of the correct accreditation.

“Once again, I would like to thank all parties involved with making this event a reality for our 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series competitors”, Rusty Gregory concluded. “We can’t wait to get to Mildura for the first time with our championship”.

Entries will be open on January 31st at https://www.sunsetstrip.org.au/event-entry-links
