Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will head to the Perth Motorplex this week for the latest round of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, as part of the 48th annual Goldenstates event across November 11 and 12.
Friday night’s qualifying for round three of the ATFC will also double as the finals for the series’ earlier Alice Springs event, after that event was concluded prematurely.
Jim Read Racing, Phil Read and the Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Top Fuel Dragster will have the opportunity to take two event winning trophies in two days, as the team is already in the box seat for the Alice Springs win as one-half of the A-Final alongside Damien Harris.
“There is certainly a lot to play for in Perth this weekend,” said Phil Read, who secured his first-ever Top Fuel win at the Perth Motorplex in 2005.
“On Friday evening we have not only two rounds of qualifying for round three of the Australian Top Fuel Championship, but the second round of qualifying will also double as the A, B and C Finals from Alice Springs.
“Thanks to our performance in Alice Springs we are in the box-seat for the big trophy as we are in the A-Final, so hopefully we can take the win there, and then continue that momentum into day two in Perth to claim the Goldenstates trophy as well!”
Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, has recently returned from a three-week R&D trip to the US.
“The Perth Motorplex is a great place to race. It is a seal-level track and always has good traction, making for great racing,” Bruce Read said.
“The famous cooling late afternoon breeze referred to as the “Fremantle Doctor” also helps to produce impressive racing conditions into the evening so given the right conditions, records can most certainly be broken.
“We are looking forward to heading back to Perth and doing all we can to take out not one, but two event winning trophies in one huge weekend.
“In the break since the last round of racing at Alice Springs, we have been working hard continuing our development of our program, which has been further informed by my recent trip to the US.
“Here’s hoping all that hard work can pay off this weekend and we can give the fans plenty to smile about in WA!
“We are also looking forward to seeing Kyle Putland make his series debut and are wishing him and his team all the best.”
Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will be part of a seven-strong field of Top Fuelers at the Perth Motorplex Goldenstates event, with Read lining up alongside Putland, Harris, Peter Xiberras, Wayne Newby, Phil Lamattina and Shane Olive across November 11 and 12.
