Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car Team manager and Top Fuel Funny Car competitor Morice McMillin looks to reinforce Funny Car racing as the most exciting thing on four wheels at this years Winternationals event on the 8th-11th of June.

“The Winternationals is just such an iconic event, I still remember coming over to watch from New Zealand as a teenager and I was just blown away with all the cars, trucks and spare parts – to be racing at the same event years later in a 4-second, 500km/h Funny Car is just crazy to me!” said McMillin.”

At the last 400 Thunder event – Jax Tyres Super Thunder – the team really struggled with the Aeroflow Toyota in qualifying but got their heads together and came good on race day with an event win and low ET of 4.88 (1/4 Mile).

“I know I keep harping on about it, all teams might look like separate groups on track, but we really work together to bring the fans consistent 4-second passes with the flames lighting up the sky the whole way down,” says Morice when asked about the weekend, his position and the opportunities he has had.

“It really is a huge honour to drive for Graeme and Wendy Cowin, wearing the Aeroflow and Rocket colours and representing not only the crew here but also every employee and valued customer is not something I take lightly, and I’ll be doing everything I can to put on a great show.”

While his eyes are firmly on the prize as a driver, Morice also has many roles over the weekend including Team Manager, Chief Tuner, junior driver mentor for the Aeroflow Future Stars, as well as promoting the Nitro Funny Car category leading in to the newly announced NDRC championship.

“Having a to wear many different hats over the weekend definitely has it’s stressful moments, but when you have a team like this behind you things are a little easier,” said McMillin. “The whole group works so hard leading up to the event, and they don’t take their foot off the gas until the cars are packed up and heading back to the shop.

“It is also great to see the sport moving ‘One Way Forward’ from here with the combined National Drag Racing Championship next year, but our focus is without a doubt here and now at Willowbank, putting on a killer show, keeping the crowd entertained and even though there are some quality cars in the field, we want to have some fun and fight for that Number 1 trophy!”

Tune in for the 2023 Winternationals from Willowbank Raceway from June 8-11.
