The largest entry list in South Australian Drag Racing history has been published ahead of the Dragway at The Bend Grand Opening Spring Nationals to be held next weekend on October 21-22.
Over 350 of Australia’s fastest cars and bikes have set the field for what will become South Australia’s most prescribed race meeting in over 50 years of competition.
The event will feature the historic first round of the newly formed National Drag Racing Championships 23-24 season, headlined by the Top Fuel Category with 6 cars locked in. The other Group 1 categories joining them are Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle and Pro Stock Motorcycle along with hundreds of sportsman racers.
This will mark the first major event for the Shell V-Power Motorsport Parks Dragway after the Harley Davidson demonstration event and two days of the Street Machine Drag Challenge have importantly begun laying further rubber down on the racing surface.
“This is poised to be one of the biggest weekends in South Australian Drag Racing history and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of all the teams, officials and spectators to The Dragway,” said Alistair MacDonald, CEO – Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.
“This venue is a credit to the Shahin family and as to be expected will present to a world-class standard when the Spring Nationals kick off next weekend.”
The Spring Nationals will launch with the Tailem Bend Street Party on Friday night October 20th from 4:30-8 PM with car displays, live music and driver appearances. The free community event situated on the town’s main street is proudly presented by the Coorong District Council & Tailem Bend Auto Car Club.
The action will take place from 9 AM-9 PM on Saturday the 21st and from 9 AM-5 PM on Sunday the 22nd with the formal opening ceremony to take place on Sunday with the ribbon cutting, flyovers, welcome to country and national anthem to take place.
