PREMIAIR RACING READY FOR NEW TITLE ASSAULT

At a brand-new track, PremiAir Racing will launch a brand-new attack on the Australian Top Fuel Championship this weekend.

This weekend’s Spring Nationals will be the grand opening event for Dragway at The Bend, and will not only open the venue, but also the title ledger for the 2023/2024 Top Fuel title as part of the new National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC).

And that isn’t all that is new this weekend either, with PremiAir Racing to also unveil an exciting new livery for the PremiAir Hire Top Fuel Dragster in time for the October 21 and 22 event.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be heading to Dragway at The Bend this weekend,” PremiAir Racing Team Principal, driver and two-time Top Fuel champion, Peter Xiberras, said.

“First of all, the grand opening of Dragway at The Bend has been hotly anticipated and to finally get to race down the brand-new quarter mile will be very thrilling for everyone involved.

“Secondly, we have won two Top Fuel titles and came very close to a third last season – with this event marking the opening round of our new season, you can rest assured we won’t be leaving anything on the table.

“We want that third championship, and we will be doing everything we can to make sure that we get our hands on it come the grand finale.

“Finally, we also have a great new livery to unveil, which will feature alongside our regular supporters the logos of Nulon and GearWrench for the first time, with these great companies expanding into drag racing from Supercars for the first time.

“And of course, when you take a look at the event overall, with more than 300 racers across the entry list and a world-class Top Fuel field, it is clear to see this event is not to be missed for racers and fans alike. So, there is plenty to be excited about!”

As well as being a Top Fuel racer, Xiberras is also team owner for Supercars’ Nulon Racing, and brought one of his Supercars drivers with him when he went to check out Dragway at The Bend’s build progress back in August.

“Jimmy Golding and I were lucky enough to check out the track during the final stages of the build a few months ago and I can tell you, it is state of the art. I have no doubt this track will be a great boost for the sport locally, in South Australia, and nationally,” Xiberras said.

“Speaking of Jimmy – I have offered him a drive of the PremiAir Hire Top Fuel Dragster; I think it would be great to see him have a go! He hasn’t taken me up on it just yet though,” Xiberras laughed.
