Rapisarda Autosport International slapped a 3.81/320.58 mph pass on the table to claim seventh spot after day one of qualifying at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird International Raceway, Phoenix.

RAI’s opening qualifier of 3.87/320.74 mphsaw the team occupy fifth spot then late afternoon on a cooling track pilotLarry Dixon again smashed the 320 mph barrier this time with a slick 3.81/320.58 mph- much to the delight of the “Aussie”/American crew.

”Our first run was a nice conservative run, set up wise we wanted to make sure we could get our car to go down the race track ” said Dixon.“Our second run was a little bit better.

We were in the left lane, which is the tougher lane at this race track. Today was a good day but I have high standards. I want more and I think everyone on the team does as well.”

“A 3.87 at 320 wasn’t all that fast but it put us at the back of the pack for the second qualifier.” said Director of Operations Lee Beard.“We were happy with our second run. We  would love to see a 3.70 come up on the board. The team is learning everytime we go out there. The race car has been down the track every single time since we rolled through the gate at Pomona last week and we are yet to see tyre smoke. The team is in a good position to push it tomorrow.”
