After a long hiatus due to Willowbank Raceway track works, the Queensland Drag Racing Championships made a triumphant return for an all new season or sportsman racing to crown new track champions for 2024.

With a strong roll up of racers ready to test their metal on the now all-concrete racing surface we start off with Super Comp, and Jai Schluter claimed the first QDRC event win of the season defeating Chris Sankey in the final. Schluter ran an E/Gas 8.66 personal best in qualifying and kept the advantage going to outrun a perfect reacting Sankey in the final with a 8.674 (9.37IN). A couple of heavy hitter duked it out in the Top Sportsman final with reigning Track Champion Paul Doeblien in his Falcon ute nailing the win over Tony Whyatt in the final. The same feat was emulated in Modified with current Track Champion Lucas Holz also going the distance in the first round of the new season, defeating the dragster of Andrew Pinkstone in the final with his altered.

A red light decided the Super Sedan as Damien Morris picked a cherry off the tree to gift the event win to Rudi Whyatt. Brian Alviso had his Kawasaki cranking to hold off a hard charging Chris Collin in the Modified Bike final with a 8.879 on a 8.83 dial in. A hard fight in the Super Street final saw Mark Rossow’s Camaro take down the Capri of Shawn Taskis as both racers pushed each other in a double breakout duel.

In Junior Dragster Vanz Peirano was king of the kids at this event racing to the event win against Dakoda Bray in the final. Sibling rivalry in Junior Drag Bike had Xavier Mansfield-French defeat Scarlett in the end as the pair raced off against each other all event.
