With a full complement of returning sponsors, Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is champing at the bit to launch into the first round of the new 2024/2025 Australian Top Fuel Championship.

Across six rounds as part of the second season for the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC), Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will be doing all it can to add another title to its long list of championship accolades, starting with this weekend’s season-opening Spring Nationals at Dragway at The Bend (October 18-20).

From there, the championship chase will take a small break before launching into an exceptionally busy first half of 2025, featuring round two at Willowbank Raceway across January 10-11, followed by the Perth Motorplex’s Westernationals (March 1-2), Dragway at The Bend’s Riverbend Nationals (April 5-6), and Sydney Dragway’s Nitro Champs (May 3-4), before the Grand Final is held at Willowbank Raceway’s Winternationals in June (5-8).

This weekend’s Spring Nationals will see Hydraulink Jim Read Racing and the rest of the Top Fuel field take to the track on Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20.

This same event marked the official opening of the South Australian venue in 2023 in front of a sold-out crowd of 35,000 enthusiastic race fans, while another packed crowd was treated to further incredible Top Fuel action at the Tailem Bend facility at the Riverbend Nationals in April of this year.

“The last time we were at Dragway at The Bend we raced through to the B-Final victory and secured a Personal Best ET in front of a jam-packed crowd and amidst a truly stunning line-up of Top Fuel performances,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver and three-time champion, Phil Read, said.

“The venue is indeed state of the art and the local fans are crazy for Top Fuel and all we have to offer, so we are always happy to have the chance to put on a show there.

“It is the quickest and fastest track in Australia at this time thanks to the record-setting performances laid down at the Riverbend Nationals in April, and I am expecting to see the markers continue to fall when the new season opens there this weekend.

“Hopefully it can be us rewriting the record books on our way to an event victory – after an up and down season last year we are exceptionally hungry and will be doing all we can to start off the new title chase in the best possible fashion.”

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, echoed Phil’s comments.

“There’s nothing like a tough season to drive you forward, and every single member of our team is laser focused on making sure that the 2024/2025 Australian Top Fuel Championship is the one that sees us once again bringing home consistently good results and hopefully, the Stan Sainty Cup,” Bruce said.

“As well as having our amazing team members behind us, we are so pleased to have the continued backing of all our sponsors heading into the new season, and together I am confident that this new season will be one for us to celebrate.

“Since the last round of the 2023/2024 season I have been back in the US working with legendary crew chief Jim ‘Jim O’ Oberhofer as part of the Clay Millican Top Fuel team – which just won at Indy – and have returned home full of enthusiasm for chasing victory here at home.

“It all starts this weekend at the Spring Nationals, and I can tell you, if previous events here at The Bend are anything to go by, this one is not to be missed!”
