NO REST FOR GREGORINI FAMILY AHEAD OF NEW TOP DOORSLAMMER SEASON

Daniel and Lisa Gregorini have their Scratch & Match Motorsport team primed for a new Australian Top Doorslammer Championship season.
The opening round of the series takes place at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend, where a strong field of Top Doorslammers will all aim to get their points chase started in just the right way.

For the Gregorinis, the off-season has not been so much a chance to relax as an opportunity to tweak their operation and refine two potential championship-winning machines.

“We haven’t had much of an off-season to be honest,” Daniel said. “We took a quick trip to the USA and caught up with our friends, the Salemi family at G-Force Race Cars. There we picked up a few new gadgets that we will be testing this weekend.

“Back in Australia we purchased some bigger wheels through McClure Motorsport, who are the WA agents for Race Star Wheels. We are hoping this will help us gain a few numbers early in the run, where we have been struggling to get power down. The tyre footprint we have now should help us dip into the low 5.60s when the track and weather conditions are on our sides.”

Following a successful season that featured wins and finals aplenty, Daniel knows that both cars are winning packages. The key is simply to make sure that package suits as wide a range of conditions as possible.

“We are making a few fuel system tweaks to chase a bit more power but we have to be cautious because our spare engine is currently being repaired,” he said. “Lisa was using my spare and so with the girls running that engine hard and fast last season it was due for some maintenance. Lisa now has a better engine block in her car while the other one will become a spare again once Applied Automotives have worked their magic.”

While efforts have been made on racing elements, the team is also improving off the track. A new enclosed marquee has been crafted to host a professional corporate entertaining area.

“Our sponsors are such a big part of everything we do and we want to make sure they have a comfortable and fit-for-purpose area when they are hanging out with us at the track,” Daniel said. “Consolidated Group are once again on board to back our campaign. In fact, Consolidated Group general manager Peter Scrivener is taking our transporter to South Australia right now with one of their beautiful V8 Scania trucks.”

Fans are once again welcome to come and see the Scratch & Match Motorsport team up close at The Bend Motorsport Park to see what it takes to keep two 3500-horsepower Camaros at the front of the field.

“Both Lisa and I can’t wait to get out there this weekend at The Bend,” Daniel said. “It’s a great facility and always has a great crowd. I want to give a huge thanks to NDRC for keeping our product going and with 11 other teams out there it’s going to be a cracker of an opening meeting for the championship. Make sure to tune in live on 7plus on race day to watch us hopefully take the win!”
