CLINT GEORGE TARGETS DEVELOPMENT FOR PRO STOCK SUCCESS

After spending the majority of last season on the side-lines, Clint George, driver of the Stress Racing GXP is preparing to drop the clutch on a new NDRC/PDRC Pro Stock championship season when Round 1 fires up at Sydney Dragway on November 15 and 16.

The NSW’s Central Coast local will make the short trip down to Sydney Dragway for what will be an epic opening round of the season with big targets in his sights.

“This season we are looking to progress into the sixes, I like the challenge of making anything go faster and the engineering involved,” said George.

“We are aiming to succeed whilst still remaining a humble and respectful competitor.”

Pro Stock draws parallels with Formula 1 in terms of the rate of development the cars undertake to hold an advantage, and where small gains off-track can equate to large gain on-track. For George chasing these gains is his wheelhouse.

“I have two brand new engine combinations that I have been working on and currently in the process of developing,” he said. “I have also spent a lot of time reworking the camshaft design, valve train and piston design on my old faithful engine which I’m still running with.”

The ‘Stress Racing’ team name was born out of George’s excursion in the sport.

“The name or plate came from my mum Faye, after seeing what my father Michael, friends, family and I went through to try and succeed in this sport. The trials and tribulations of such a time consuming and somewhat stressful situations with lots of hours and effort that is put into trying to be better and do better in a sport I love. She said you should use the name Stress as your team name, and so it was decided.” recalled George.

Stress Racing’s journey into Pro Stock is not an overnight one. The team started when George was 17 years old in Super Street running a HQ Monaro.

“I was then given the opportunity from Al (Ostey), owner of Easy Motors Central Coast, to drive his Torana in Super Sedan at Eastern Creek. Throughout this time Al taught me a lot of invaluable knowledge in his machine shop and at the track,” said George.

“From there, at 19, I had gone on to build my own UC Torana in brilliant red for Super Sedan duties.”

George’s UC Torana paved the way with all of his cars being painted in the same striking red colour scheme since.

“By the time I turned 29 I was now racing a 400 cube Chev Cavalier in Super Stock in which I received numerous Gold Christmas trees and reset the B/APA record in 2014 which still stands,” George continued.

“Following on from my success in Super Stock, in 2019 my childhood dream of racing Pro Stock was achieved, with my 400 cube Pontiac GXP. I’m here now at 44 years old, currently still learning and improving, trying to get closer to the elusive six second pass.”

Not to be missed, head to Sydney Dragway on the 16-17 November to see Clint George compete in what will be an epic opening round to this years championship.

The first round of PDRC Pro Stock season features alongside Pro Stock Motorcycle, Pro Alcohol, Pro Mod, Pro Import and the Grand Finale of the NSW Championship series.
