Following victory in 2023 and 2024 in the West, Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is hoping to make it a hat trick at the Perth Motorplex this weekend as the 54th annual Westernationals unfolds.

The Sydney-based team and their Top Fuel compatriots will be on-track for round three of the 2024/2025 NDRC Top Fuel Australian Championship across March 1-2, following a winning and record-breaking performance at round one in October and a B-final victory at round two in January.
“The Motorplex has certainly been a happy hunting ground for us in recent years and we are very excited to get back there and challenge for the trifecta,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver, Phil Read, said.
“This is the only time Top Fuel is heading West this season, so hopefully we can make our mark here once again and put on a spectacular show for the fans at the same time.
“The Motorplex is one of the best tracks in the country and the Westerns is always a huge event – we simply can’t wait to be a part of it again, and hopefully, lift the event-winning NDRC Gold Christmas Tree trophy!”
The team will have some extra faces along for the ride this year as well.
“We are very pleased to be hosting 120 guests from our valued sponsor Hydraulink this weekend – hopefully we can put some big smiles on all those faces with some event-winning and maybe record-breaking runs,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.
“Also, Phil will be driving the transporter over to Perth as he always does, but this year he will be accompanied by NDRC commentator Wade Aunger for the trip – so make sure you listen out for some road trip stories in the event commentary this weekend,” Bruce laughed.

The team is also looking forward to welcoming back a familiar face to the pit lane.
“Phil Lamattina has been missing from our racing for the first two rounds of the 2024/2025 championship chase, so we are happy to see him back on-track for this weekend’s round three,” Bruce Read said.
“With six Top Fuel dragsters hitting the Motorplex, the fans should be ready for one hell of a show this Saturday and Sunday.”
