Kyle Putland and his fellow Top Fuel pilots will bring a 66,000hp nitro-burning show to the Perth Motorplex this weekend, with round 3 of the NDRC Top Fuel Championship to headline the 54th annual Westernationals across March 1 and 2.

Six 11,000hp Top Fuel dragsters capable of traversing the 1000ft distance in just three seconds at more than 500kph will join with Top Doorslammers and Top Fuel Motorcycles – also enjoying their own rounds of the NDRC championshwilliip – as well as a full complement of sportsman racers in the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship.

Putland is the newest Top Fuel racer in the champion-heavy ranks, chasing his breakthrough victory while representing WA at the event alongside the reigning champion, Damien Harris.

“We are totally pumped to see the Perth crowd turn up and totally appreciate the support that everyone brings to our home race.

“We have everything including the kitchen sink locked and loaded and will be doing everything we can to bring home a win.

“Everyone in this field is capable of winning, including ourselves.

“All of the teams are amazing at what they do, and the competition is going to be so very tough. But if we didn’t think we could win, we shouldn’t be racing!

“If we as a team have that little bit of luck go our way on the day, I think we can be there on the top step at the end of the night.

“To do so, to win at home, especially as the underdog in the field, well that would just be so very, very special – I struggle to put it into words really what that would mean to us as a team.”

Putland was last on-track with the NDRC at the season-opening Spring Nationals event at Dragway at The Bend – a venue they will be returning too soon after the Westernationals for April’s Riverbend Nationals, round four of the Top Fuel title chase.

“Since that round we have done some testing and we are very happy with how the car is,” he said.

“We have made a few small changes as part of our preparations, and while it has been something to learn, things are progressing very nicely in a fast direction, so we head into this weekend feeling confident.

“As well as obviously hoping to go rounds and get the win, we will be hoping to crack the three-eighties and then go on to run in the eighties consistently.

“In the meantime, I want to send a shout out to my crew for all of the hard work that they do, hopefully we can put on a great show this weekend,” concluded Putland, who is supported on-track by Putland’s companies, Hydraulic Technical Solutions and Grease Systems WA, as well as oil partner, Oil and Energy.
