Willowbank Raceway is proud to announce the extension of its long- standing sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) extending their agreement for a further 10 years, securing an exciting future for Australian drag racing. As part of this agreement, IHRA will also become the naming rights sponsor of Willowbank Raceway.

The announcement was made by Darryl Cuttell owner of IHRA, who visited Willowbank Raceway as part of his recent whirlwind international tour with IHRA Australia’s CEO, Maurice Allen. Darryl’s stop at Australia’s home of drag racing highlighted the strength of the partnership and the shared vision between IHRA and Willowbank to continue growing the sport at every level.

“This extension is a huge vote of confidence in Willowbank Raceway and the Australian drag racing community,” Cuttell said. “The facilities, the people, and the passion here are second to none, and we’re thrilled to lock in the next decade together.”

Willowbank Raceway’s President Tony Wedlock said “This is another huge step forward in Willowbank’s journey. We are please to align ourselves more closely with IHRA and look forward to a long, successful and mutually beneficial partnership. It was a real pleasure to meet with Darryl and share his vision for our sport in Australia and globally.”

Maurice Allen, CEO of IHRA Australia said “Darryl has made a huge impact and investment in the sport globally and today’s announcement is a major step forward for the sport in Australia. I cannot wait for everyone to see what’s next!”

The renewed agreement ensures competitors, officials, and fans will continue to benefit from IHRA’s trusted sanctioning, safety standards, and pathways for racers to progress both nationally and internationally.

Willowbank Raceway looks forward to building on this strong foundation with IHRA, delivering world-class events, supporting grassroots racing, and celebrating drag racing for many years to come.

The next 10 years are set to be bigger, faster, and louder than ever.
