Round 1 of Qld Allbike Super Series was a huge success after the weather tried it’s best to shut the entire show down. Full credit must go to Palmyra Dragway staff for drying the track three times before a bike even got on the track. Their determination to get the meeting run went above and beyond what is usually expected.

The event entered Queensland motorcycle drag racing into an exciting new era proudly supported by major sponsor Ballistic Performance Parts, the new championship has been created to provide Queensland’s bike racers with another title to chase while building on the success and popularity of existing All Bikes race meetings.
Following the season opener at Palmyra, competitors will now head to Benaraby Dragway on 1 August before the championship reaches its climax with the Grand Final at Willowbank Raceway on 26 September.

The concept has been developed by multi-national drag racing champion Brian Alvisio, with the series designed to deliver more opportunities for racers to compete across the season in a dedicated motorcycle championship environment.
Four competitive brackets will feature throughout the series, and racers must register to contest and be in the running their desired bracket’s championship.
• Junior Drag Bike – supported by Junior Drag Bike Oz
• Modified Bike – supported by Dave Oliver’s Motorcycle Tyres
• King of the Street – supported by Coochie Hydrogreen Lawn Services
• V-Twin/Cruiser – supported by Alpha Performance Engines

Once racing was underway at Palmyra, Dave Oliver’s Motorcycle Tyres Modified Bike had a great field of 23 bikes enter and most of them were nominated for the championship. Four racers ended up on three wins. Dave Oliver and Brian Alvisio had three wins but weren’t close enough to make the final, which left two Palmyra locals Russell Bell and Rachel Wilkins in the final. Neither put up a great light in the final but Russell left with a .037 startline advantage and his 9.16 on 9.10 was good enough to get it done over Rachel’s 8.57 on 8.50.
Coochie Hydrogreen King of the Streets was also hotly contested with a good field with some quality streeters including quite a few up from Brisbane. Brett McEnroe and Willowbank Street Series champion Luke Thompson grabbed three wins each without making the final, leaving Ben Searle the only championship contender in the final, which he took out with a sharp 9.93 on his 9.90 dial in for the win while opponent Brian Smith broke out.
A.P.E. V-twin/Cruiser class saw Max Jordan and Kate Collins take out three wins each but only Max made it to the final from the championship contenders and he took it out and will take the lead into Benaraby in a few weeks.

Last but not least was Junior Drag Bike, sponsored by Juniordragbikeoz, which only had the three competitors. Lillian and Blake Hagan and James Schofield. All three had three wins but Lillian was the one to miss out on the final. James did the daily double and threw up a red light and then went 8.98 on his 8.99 dial in for a breakout, and Blake went 9.23 on his 9.00 dial for the win.

With championship points, bragging rights and a brand-new title on the line there is still time to nominate for the championship before Benaraby and still plenty of opportunity to come back and get some of the $1500 prizemoney purse for the three senior brackets and with Juniordragbikeoz putting up a Pista 50 White Edition worth $3400 for the winner, the juniors need to get on board as well.
