Darren Morgan Racing are looking to take back the points lead this Good Friday at Santo’s Super Thunder.
The four-time Australian Top Fuel Champion is currently only seven points behind Wayne Newby heading into round four of the 400 Thunder Series.
“With only seven points between us, Newby has the target on his back, we will be chasing him down,” Morgan said.
“We have just made a whole heap of changes to our car so we are hoping to run quicker, faster and more consistent.
“Having only three race meetings under its belt, we want to keep developing this new car and make it into a bad arse hot rod.”
Joining Morgan and Newby this weekend will be USA driver Dom Lagana and Damien Harris driving for Rapisarda Autosport International and Terry Sanity.
“The quality of the racing in this country is getting better at every race meeting, Morgan said.
“This is an exciting time for both our sport and my chosen class.
“With teams having to bring in American drivers and turners just proves how tougher the competition is. “
This Friday will be a three round format, with drivers offered the opportunity of a fourth pass before getting straight into racing.
“With the weather cooling down we are expecting to see quicker and faster times this Friday,” Morgan said.
“We are excited to see how quick we can go.”
Morgan plans to do all four passes, with the first pass scheduled for 12.35pm.
Round one is scheduled for 5.01pm, round two at 7.18pm and round three is scheduled for 9.36pm.
Those who couldn’t wait to see Top Fuel this Friday, got a look at the AEG Powertools Top Fuel Dragster on Tuesday at Bunnings Cannon Hill.
