Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder proved to be a Mega event for Tremaniac Racing with the team signing a two year sponsorship with Mega Racing Australia, as well as both cars being in the final – with Aaron taking the win.
The final whitewash was the most pleasing element of the event for the team, marking a recovery for Tyronne after a disastrous stretch of recent events.
Last year Tyronne had the championship in his sights at the Winternationals when he broke a rocker in the first round.
A new car for the opening round of the 2016/17 400 Thunder Series in Cairns came with some gremlins as a misfire forced him to abort a first round run.
The misfire continued into the next round, East Coast Thunder at Sydney Dragway and onwards to Willowbank for the Santo’s Super Thunder event.
Finally the team put the car on to a chassis dyno to discover the issue.
“I don’t believe in bad luck but I was starting to be convinced there was,” Tyronne said.
At Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder, the team tested once more and were still not convinced they had found the problem. But on race day the car got quicker on every pass, running a 6.96 in the final against Aaron’s winning 6.90.
Team patriarch Kerry Tremayne said with two cars now running well the Mega Racing outfit was looking forward to the final championship round at the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals.
“Tyronne is looking forward to the event, hopefully with no gremlins coming back and out qualifying his brother,” he said. “It is our favourite event whether you do well or not, it is great just to be there.”
