Four-time Australian Top Fuel Champion Darren Morgan couldn’t wipe the smile from his face at Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder when he broke his PB, running a 4.56 at 329mph.
Morgan joins only a handful of drivers in Australia to have run 4.5 seconds with the national record currently set at 4.503 seconds.
“We were thrilled to see the potential of our new car,” Morgan said. “We brought it over to run consecutive 4.5s and we are now almost there.”
The entire Darren Morgan Racing team was ecstatic with the result following a disappointing start to the event.
First round saw Morgan take on USA driver Richie Crampton running 4.79 seconds to Richie’s 4.57. A broken throttle cable resulted in giving Wayne Newby the win in round two, running 6.8 to Newby’s 4.57. The final round of the night saw Morgan take the win and run his PB against Terry Sainty.
“It was awesome to run out personal best in front of our almost 100 Bunnings and AEG Powertools corporates,” Morgan said.
“Sydney Dragway staff produced a world class race track and should all be proud of themselves, running such a fantastic event.”
Spectators once again had the opportunity to get to test out the latest AEG Powertools currently available, with a large AEG Powertools display set up at the DMR pits.
“We know AEG Powertools are fantastic but we want others to test that theory and the AEG Powertools display enables that,” Morgan said.
“We are looking forward to giving more people the opportunity to get hands on with Australia’s best power tools at the Winternationals next month.”
One lucky spectator who tested out the AEG Powertools won the opportunity to go on the startline with the DMR team.
This opportunity will also be available at the Winternationals so make sure you come on down and test out the tools on display.
With less than a month to the 50th Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway, Morgan and his crew will be working hard to end the season on a high.
