While Victor Bray and John Zappia have been the legends of Australian doorslammer racing for many years, there is one racer and team whose following continues to grow exponentially – Paul Mouhayet and Moits Racing.
That would be Sydney’s Paul Mouhayet. Combined with the resources of Sydney’s Moits Racing outfit, Mouhayet has become a legend not just in Australia but also around the world. Driving talent, a professional approach and record times and speeds are what has created the buzz around this drag racer.

Breaking cover
Moits Racing really burst on to the drag racing scene with their 10.5 tyre Ford Mustang. A 6.30/203mph debut made it one of the quickest cars in the country on a 10.5 and they were only just getting warmed up…

One of the tricks with a 10.5 tyre is pouring in the power as you get down the track, which can result in dramatic wheelstands like this half track effort. These kind of runs ensured no one on the Sydney Dragway property was ever leaving trackside when Paul Mouhayet was about to make a pass!
World records begin
As the team found their groove, their performances continued to improve, eventually smashing the Outlaw 10.5 quarter mile record with a brilliant 5.99/252mph, sending the crew into raptures.

Taking it to the world
Before long, Moits Racing decided to head overseas to race with the best turbocharged cars in the world. Using a new Tim McAmis-built Ford Mustang on big tyres and with Proline Racing power again up front, Mouhayet contested a number of PDRA events and the Street Car Supernationals.
Another world record!
Paul Mouhayet stunned the drag racing world with the highest ever speed for a doorslammer, carding 274mph in the Proline-engine, turbocharged Ford Mustang at St Louis, Illinois. Paul believes the car was capable of 280mph+, but said a suspended car doing those speeds is getting pretty sketchy.
Returning down under
The new car was shipped back to Australia for an attempt at becoming the quickest doorslammer in the country. And that they did with a stunning 5.58/261mph pass (they would also later run 266mph to make it far and away the fastest too).

Moits Racing decided they wanted to take on Australia’s winningest doorslammer racer, John Zappia. To do that they needed to shift to a supercharged motor and enter the 400 Thunder Pro Slammer class. An old school Ford Mustang made its debut at Willowbank.

Despite the challenge of shifting to an entirely new set up, the Moits Racing team got on top of it astoundingly quick and soon ran the quickest pass ever for a blown sedan in Australia, hitting a 5.58 in testing at Sydney Dragway.
So where to from here? Moits Racing and Paul Mouhayet have their eyes set on their first win and a championship in Pro Slammer. They have made two finals so far but have come up as bridesmaids both times. But we’re sure it won’t be long before the win light is in their lane and the gold Christmas tree trophy is in their hands.
