The latest round of the ANDRA Pro-Series was held recently at Sydney International Dragway in conjunction with the Nitro Championships with a big 3 days of action planned covering just about all classes of racing.
Mother Nature however was not playing fair and most of Friday and Saturday was spent dodging showers and waiting for the track to be dried.
The Jason Grima Motorsport/ PC Group Team got two runs on Saturday, but clutch issues, did not allow them to get a good track time, but the car was showing very good half track times and speed once off the line. 7.29 and 7.41 were the times but the second qualifier runs were cancelled for all teams due to inconsistent weather and track conditions.
Sunday morning the rain finally cleared and with the JGM team slipping in the best clutch setup on a worn clutch Jason pulled the Mustang to a very respectable 7.14 with a 191 trap speed. This effectively pulled the Team from way down the ladder up to 6th. They were extremely happy going into the next round believing they’d got around their clutch issues.
However, on the next pass, the clutch started to drag on the start line after Jason had put the car into full stage, which pulled the PC Group Mustang through the staging beams before the green, giving Jason a red light, with the win going straight to his opponent, who only managed a 7.21 pass. Jason still went for it anyway and with the time posted it would have been a 7.13 pass if the clutch had not failed.
Overall the weekend didn’t live up to expectations in terms of results, but the Team proved that they can meet any challenge. The Jason Grima Motorsport/PC Group team are heading to Qld’s Willowbank Raceway on the 2nd and 3rd of June for a warm up session prior to the WinterNationals over the June Long weekend. Make sure you catch up with them at the track if you can.
See you at the Track!
