Sunoco Racing Fuels are coming back bigger than ever with all their fuels back on the approved fuels lists for both ANDRA and IHRA competition.

The impending ban on leaded racing fuels prompted a revamp of the Sunoco Racing Fuels program in Australia and following a recent visit from Terry Thompson and Mark Paul from Sunoco USA, the world’s largest racing fuel supplier is now back in the Australian market.

Sunoco Australia’s Aaron Brookes said the brand was moving early on its unleaded range.

“We have engaged the services of some of Australia’s highest profile engine builders and tuners and they are currently working directly with Sunoco’s petrochemists to develop some high octane unleaded fuels for everything from small cube, naturally aspirated, high revving Pro and Super Stock engines to big boost and nitrous applications,” he explained.

“Unlike some of our competitors, Sunoco doesn’t use some chemicals like MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), methoxyethanol and isoprene, which are known carcinogens. They are more dangerous than lead and corrosive to aluminium and magnesium meaning they have to be drained from fuel systems in between races. These chemicals can not only damage your health, but severely damage your wallet.

“We are totally revamping our dealer program and introducing a new engine builder program, to help racers transition to the unleaded fuel era. We have also managed to reduce the price of the Sunoco E85-R (Indy Car Spec E85 containing 109RON Race Unleaded) and we will be re-introducing the USA-made Sunoco Racing Methanol at a price competitive with the inconsistent quality, Asian refined products commonly used in Australia. We will also be introducing Sunoco Nitromethane, so Australian racers will be able to purchase the same products their American counterparts use.”

Sunoco Racing is the official fuel of NHRA, IHRA, INDY Car, NASCAR and over 60 other major racing organisations. They are the largest racing fuel manufacturer in the world, with all of their racing fuels being blended by the same team for every batch, in Sunoco’s own facility in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, ensuring that fuels are of the highest quality and consistency. You can be guaranteed that the fuel you buy in the USA will be the exact same specs when you buy it in Europe or Australia.
