QDRC Outlaws is becoming a family battle with the Fletcher father son duo of Bill and Josh streaking the field in the championship. The pair faced each other in the final round of the Chicago Shootout format with a red light to Bill sending Josh to the final round against Peter Leahy. A 6.566 on a 6.55 from the Leahy funny car was a tough pass but a .214 reaction and it was curtains at the stripe with the Fletcher dragster taking the win with a 7.339 on a 7.23.

Daniel Morris and Allan Grimsey went three for three in the Chicago Shootout rounds to meet in the final of Top Sportsmam, a holeshot to the Morris Caprice left to much of a chase for Grimsey who broke out trying to make up the difference. Morris now has a slight lead over Paul Doeblien in the overall champion, well clear of Tony Whyatt in third.

Racing in Modified does not get any tougher than what it is in South East Queensland, 400 Thunder champion Stephen Gouws was perfect for wins in the racing rounds but lost out to Lucas Holz and Nicole Doeblien in the countback to determine the finalists. Holz had the small jump at the green but slowed to a 11 second pass giving an easy win to Doeblien’s dragster with a 8.23 on a 8.13. As you would expect in a such competitive bracket is the championship still being wide open with Bob Frawley holding a eight point lead over a gaggle of racers.

Damien Morris dropped a killer 10.122 on a 10.12 final round run to defeat Noel Green’s 9.110 on a 9.00 in Super Sedan, the win take Morris to the top of the championship standings over Patrick Barron.

In Super Street the final was Shawn Taskis with his Capri against Andrew Stathis’ VL Commodore. Both racers pushed each other in the Holden versus Ford battle to a double breakout, Stathis went to quick by the least and took home the trophy with the championship lead.

Troubles for McKenzie Garside in the Junior Dragster final saw Harrison Thwaite take an easy win with a 8.42 on a 8.17. The win tied Thwaites up with Oscar Isherwood in the championship tussle.
