That’s not to say that there isn’t any eye candy – of the engine kind. Here are some of our favourites from the show. All pics in this gallery are high resolution too, so feel free to get an in close look.
Collin Willshire’s Mitsubishi Eclipse took pride of place on the Garrett stand, where it earned a Masters of Motors Award as the top boosted engine in the whole PRI show.
Mark Micke’s radial tyre Malibu attracted plenty of attention, also on the Garrett stand.
We saw at least two Holden utes on trade stands. It’s a shame GM never released the utes as a new generation El Camino in the States, I can’t help but feel they would have sold a load of them.
The internet famous Cletus Corvette – stripped down to what resembles a go-kart on steroids.
When you really need to go fast on dirt, you go blown alcohol!
There were two electric Junior Dragsters on display. I’m really interested to see where this evolves to – I think these could be a great introduction to the sport for young drivers.
Another sand dragger. Looked like an extremely long wheelbase Pro Mod/Doorslammer!
When your Nitro Harley needs even MORE power – you add a Procharger. Boosted Nitro Harleys are likely to be a more common thing this next 12 months.
David Barton’s Factory Stock Camaro – should these be the new Pro Stock?
Fletcher Cox’s radial tyre, EFI supercharged Ford Mustang.
World’s quickest LS motor car, using a Noonan block.
The diesel scene in the USA is huge right now. There were probably a dozen diesel powered drag cars on display around the venue.
Looking for the world’s quickest motorcycle without wheelie bars? You found it. This is what Pro Stock Motorcycle should be!
Make sure to catch coming issues of Drag News Magazine, where we will feature technical articles on some of the new products available, with everything from rubber tool mats to carbon fibre Top Fuel rods.
