The world’s fastest DJ, Carl Cox, has spun the wheels for the first time in Australia in his new Pro Extreme twin turbo Mustang during some private test days at Sydney Dragway.
Under falling bushfire ash at a smoke-choked Sydney Dragway, Cox progressed steadily in the former Jose Gonzalez Pro Mod ‘Eleanor’ Shelby GT500 Mustang over the two days of testing. With such a big step up in performance and style of car compared to his almost streetable radial tyre Capri – which has still run sixes – there is a significant learning curve to handling a car that has gone 5.4 seconds at over 270mph in the past.
Cox stopped the clocks with an oh-so-easy 6.52/209mph early shut off pass at the end of testing, giving a hint of the Dandy Engines’ twin turbo 481x Proline powered, Jerry Bickel built car’s potential, and the force it will be in the burgeoning Pro Extreme ranks.
