While on a short trip to the USA visiting the Jan-Cen racing team in Las Vegas, Mifsud had the pleasure of spending some time with Mike Janis and Terry from AJPE.

“During the visit Terry let a cat out of the bag, mentioning that they had designed a new cylinder head not yet on the market,” said Mifsud.

The new cylinder head named the Stage 3 AJPE Muscle Head is supported by flow figures that will impress all.

“After a few lengthy conversations with Mike Janis and the boys at AJPE a deal was done and with the support of AJPE, the Elite Oils Camaro was going to be the first door car in the world to have these new Stage 3 Muscle Head’s fitted,” said Mifsud.

“The thrash was on, Rick at AJPE was on the job, the heads where manufactured and custom valves where ordered.

“Mike Janis from Jan-Cen Racing put a new bottom end combo together to suit the new AJPE heads,” he said.

Mike Janis was to arrive in Australia on the 3rd of December to assist fellow Top Doorslammer racers Tony DeFelice and Stuart Bishop who had booked Willowbank raceway for the week.

The heads arrived on Monday the 5th December and the Elite Oils Camaro crew all pulled together and by midnight the car was completed and the transporter left for the 12 hour drive to Willowbank Raceway.

“Mother Nature was to play a big part in our testing efforts, with rain affecting the beginning of the week and no clear sky in sight we sat patiently with fingers crossed,” said Mifsud.

By Thursday the rain had eased and the Willowbank staff started drying and prepping the track, the teams knowing it would only be a small window of dry weather to secure any testing.

“Considering we had a totally new combination, our first pass was to be a conservative one so as to gather some data, this resulted in a half pass at 4.0 seconds,” said Mifsud.

“After extensive evaluation of the data back in the pits, the weather was being a devil in disguise with far from perfect racing conditions at a corrected altitude at 2850 ft.”

The team decided to hop it up and send it to the end of the track.

The Elite Oils Camaro came to life, unleashing a .985 second 60 ft time, 3.89 seconds to half track and a blistering 5.89 second at 245 MPH elapsed time.

This reaffirmed what the Elite Oils crew have always known, that the Camaro will be a force to be reckoned with in ANDRA Top Doorslammer Pro Series.

Sean Mifsud would like to thank the following: Elite Oils for their continued support, Mike Janis and the Jan-Cen Racing Team for their invaluable input, AJPE for the opportunity to show case what we believe to the industry leaders in performance engineering and Bursons Auto Parts Caringbah.

The Elite Oils team are looking forward to what promises to be a riveting year of racing in the highly competitive Top Doorslammer field.
