Queensland local Steven Ham will be making the 12 hour journey to Sydney Dragway this coming weekend to compete in round 5 of the Rocket All Star Series. Ham currently sits equal second on 80 points following a final round appearance at his home track, Willowbank Raceway in January.
However, the upcoming Sydney meeting will again prove a testing ground for the East Coast Lubes/Mobil 1 Funny Car. A mired of changes have been made to the cars chassis and engine setup that require more valuable track time ahead of ANDRA Pro Series round 3 in Adelaide.
“The opportunity to test the Funny Car again in Sydney was too good to pass up, and with ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer and Pro Stock on hand, good track conditions should be on the cards. Its a close as we can get to real racing conditions,” commented driver Steven Ham.
There is also the added bonus to the team that will be racing in Rocket All Stars Competition eliminator, which not only adds the added enjoyment of racing in competition, but also another opportunity to keep the East Coast Lubes car in front of racing fans.
“With it not being a fully fledged ANDRA Pro Series Top Alcohol round, the atmosphere is a little more relaxed, which is good for the fans that can come down and have a good close up look at a 3500 hp funny car. But were certainly not going to be taking the opportunity to race in competition lightly,” said Ham.
