The management of Calder Park and Adelaide International Raceway has public backed ANDRA with a statement put on to social media.

It is the first official comment from the owner of the venue, Rodney Jane, though Adelaide promoter Rino D’Alfonso has said he will be running as part of the ‘rebel’ series in order to have Top Fuel attend.

The statement said the management had enjoyed working with the drag racing community, ANDRA CEO Malcolm Bulley, the ANDRA Board, members and staff to return drag racing to the southern venues.

“We look forward to continuing our support for drag racing and ANDRA by hosting many more events in the future.

“We are also pleased to announce that Stage 1 of the upgrade works to the Calder Park Drag Strip will be commencing shortly, one step closer to making it the world class surface you’ve been waiting for.”

According to an article on Sporting Scribe, initial works are expected to start around July 24 with the first test and tune expected as early as the end of August.

Stage 1 of the works is believed to involve a much needed resurface of the Melbourne track.
