The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series has taken another enormous step as the entertainment-based tour now heading overseas with a visit to Meremere Dragway in New Zealand.
Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series Manager, Morice McMillin was excited to have the calendar in place to help the series’ competitors plan their seasons, “We are trying to get things done as early as possible and continue the momentum that we have managed to generate.”
“Going to New Zealand is a great opportunity for our racers and the New Zealand fans. A full field of nitro funny cars is something New Zealand hasn’t seen before and I’m confident we can put on a massive show for the New Zealand public,” added McMillin.
The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars will also visit Australia’s most historic eighth mile dragstrip at Whyalla’s Steel City Dragway and make two trips to Willowbank Raceway.
McMillin added, “Dealing with Mark Kuhn has been fantastic and to be heading to Steel City to race our nitro funny cars is a unique and exciting opportunity. Taking the tour from the season opener in Cairns to regional South Australia and adding an international round – we really are taking drag racing far and wide!”
The dates for the 2017/18 Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars calendar are as follows-
August 5th Springmount Raceway – Mareeba, QLD
October 28th Willowbank Raceway – Ipswich, QLD
December 2nd Perth Motorplex – Perth, WA
February 3rd Meremere Dragway – New Zealand
April 7th Steel City Raceway – Whyalla, SA
May 5th Willowbank Raceway – Ipswich, QLD
Also, featuring in the calendar is the addition of a second event it Willowbank Raceway. Chairman Tony Wedlock added, “Following on from the success of the initial Aeroflow outlaw nitro funny car events, the Willowbank Raceway board has been working closely with Aeroflow outlaw nitro funny car management to secure an additional round at Willowbank and we are happy to announce the inclusion of the funny cars at the final round of the Willowbank Track Championships in October.
McMillin concluded, “After our huge success at the Perth Motorplex this season it was great to secure a return date and once again take the show over to all our Western Australian fans. It’s an exciting year ahead for the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars.”
