The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car stable stretched their legs in a big way recently at Sydney Dragway, taking advantage of some prime conditions and the new track surface to lay down some astonishingly quick numbers.

The new Terminator Camaro was given some test laps for the first time at the capable hands of Justin Walshe, with the car suffering some tyre shake that will need to be worked out before the next round of the series in Springmount.

But the big numbers came for Red Devil and Nitro Express, the two 57 Chevs that have become crowd favourites in the series.

With a new supercharger on Red Devil, Shane Olive was the first to rock the readout boards with a 5.44 at 249mph.

Nitro Express, driven by Rick Gauci, was running some different compression and belted out a 5.48/262mph, even with a pedal.

Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car series manager Morice McMillin said all the passes were in legal trim with 6/71 blowers on 413ci motors and three disc, non lock up clutches.

“A massive credit to the Sydney Dragway staff, especially the track crew, all their efforts over the past month have created a very impressive racing surface,” he said. “These numbers would not have been possible on the old surface.”
