The Board of the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) has announced Rob Curkpatrick as interim CEO.

Curkpatrick replaces Malcolm Bulley, who had his last day with the organisation just under two weeks ago.

Curkpatrick brings a diverse background and skill set gained within the corporate sector, sports, event management and motor sport through his company Curkpatrick Management Pty Ltd.

He has previously worked with Mallala Motorsport Park, Shell Australian Touring Car Championship, V8 Supercars Australia, Classic Adelaide Tarmac Rally, the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals, and various other motor racing categories and organisations.

Curkpatrick said he was excited to take on the position and is looking forward to working with the Board and Head Office staff.

“I’d like to thank the ANDRA Board for this opportunity,” he said. “Over the next few months I aim to bring stability and advance the goals of the organisation as we begin to move forward.

“Drag racing is a great motor sport with many passionate racers, crew members and supporters and I am looking forward to working with you all.”

ANDRA chairman Michael Fotheringham welcomed Curkpatrick to the role and said he is confident the Board has made the right decision.

“Rob will work closely with the Board on advancing the sport as we move into this crucial next phase,” he said.

“I’ve no doubt we have the right person for the job given his impressive CV and I look forward to working together for the good of drag racing in Australia.”

Curkpatrick will step into the role officially on Tuesday September 22 and remain until the end of 2015.
