Calder Park Drag Racing and the Australian National Drag Racing Association regret to announce that round eight of the 2019/2020 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will not be going ahead.
The cancellation of the 1-2 February 2020 event has been necessitated by delays in the planned track resurfacing.
While those works were intended to start prior to the Christmas break to allow for the February event to go ahead, drainage hold ups have delayed the commencement of those works and with the holiday season now in full swing, the track expects the surfacing work will instead now commence in the New Year.
ANDRA and the management of Calder Park Drag Racing have been assured that leading contractors in the area of race track surfacing have been appointed by the management of Calder Park to carry out the planned works to allow ANDRA championship drag racing to return to the facility in the near future.
Once the new surface is completed, it is expected that Calder Park Drag Racing events will re-commence at the facility within eight weeks (to allow required curing of the surface), with talks already underway as to when the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series may return to the track once the works are complete.
ANDRA and the management of Calder Park Drag Racing deeply regret any inconvenience caused by this change in the 2019/2020 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series calendar. The rest of the calendar remains unchanged and can be viewed here.
