Junior Dragster racer Anita Board has been remembered in a series of memorials around the globe as the drag racing community came together to remember the eight year old driver who passed away in an accident at Perth Motorplex.
Anita’s funeral was held on Friday at the Motorplex, where she made her last run down the track.
Anita was also remembered around the country at other drag racing events.
Willowbank Raceway held a beautiful tribute where former Junior Dragster driver and now Top Fuel racer Kelly Bettes returned to the seat of one of the micro dragsters to carry a Pony Power balloon down the track.
Young racers released purple balloons at Calder Park’s Rowe Memorial as they honoured little Anita in Victoria.
Palmyra Dragway’s Junior Dragster contingent put their helmets out on the start line to remember Anita in Queensland.
Benaraby’s racer community all brought their helmets to the start line before racing for Anita.
Memorials have even crossed sports, with this Junior Sedan carrying a Pony Power livery.
Kalgoorlie Speedway held a minute’s silence to remember Anita.
Internationally, California’s Famoso Raceway paid tribute with their strong Junior Dragster community.
