AUSSIE SUPERCHARGED OUTLAWS SET OFF TO INVADE UK

John Willard’s ‘Aussie Outlaw’ Anglia and the ‘Double Trouble’ altered of Paul and Dearne Stephen have been locked and loaded in shipping containers for the long voyage on the high seas to England.

Willard who is a long time Anglia racer was inspired to build Aussie Outlaw after witnessing the blown Outlaw Anglia class running in the UK, and the build of Mick Taylor’s UK Banshee Racing Outlaw Anglia, so Willard of Flat Out Services went about building an Australian version for racing here and the UK.

“Most Australian drag racers dream of racing in the US, but to take the car to England and race against 30 Anglias would be a dream come true for me,” Willard told Drag News when we first revealed the build.

Since then, Willard destroyed the Outlaw Anglia record with a six second – 200MPH pass on the car’s very first outing, and proceeded to raise the bar to 6.65 at an outright Anglia World Record 208mph.

Now Willard fulfils his dream to race in the UK later this year.

Joining Willard will be Paul and Dearne Stephen with their Supercharged Outlaw Altered ‘Double Trouble’. Looking for a new adventure after claiming the ANDRA National Championship in Supercharged Outlaws a few years back, they have teamed up with Willard and sponsor Atlantic Oils to put on a horsepower show for the English.

The two cars are sponsored locally by Australian engine oil and lubricant manufacturer Atlantic Oils, and Atlantic have come onboard to help sponsor their journey to the Mother Country.

Drag Racing Sponsorship Manager for Atlantic Oils, Suzanne Lazar said,” Atlantic Oils is proud to be supporting John Willard and Paul Stephen to help them achieve their UK racing tour, and we are very excited to see what they can accomplish representing Australia.”

After the three-month journey to England, the teams will contest three events at the famed Santa Pod Raceway. Willard will run a test meeting at the Sportsman Nationals on June 17-18, before both cars compete at the Summernationals (July 1-2) and Dragstalgia (July 7-9).
