Australian Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia won a hard fought Westernationals on the weekend in Perth Western Australia in the Fuchs Lubricants / Procomp Electronics Monaro to further his recent winning ways and jump to the top of the 2012 ANDRA Pro Series Championship ladder.

While most other parts of Australia are suffering from constant rain, yet another drag car is heading North to make a new home at Hidden Valley Drag Strip, last month it was a new Top Alcohol Funny Car leaving the US destined for the shed of Jay Henning, this time it’s a Chevy Camaro recently purchased by Troy Wittwer.

John Zappia seized the lead in the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer championship on Sunday with a close win over Robin Judd at Perth Motorplex.

This weekend’s upcoming Westernationals may play an early-season role in 2013 with ANDRA today confirming that it will be moving to a calendar year season.

Not since Victor Bray and the original wild bunch tour has Tassie been rocked like it was at Slamfest on Feb 18. With the exception of the odd visit by the likes of the Brays’, Fabietti and Stevens the apple isle has endured a drought of group 1 action. Over twelve months in the planning and due in no small part to the support given by Peter Kapiris, the Brays and Maurice Fabietti Slamfest Tassie was a huge success and testament to what a small but dedicated group of people can achieve.

Perth Top Doorslammer drag racer, Robin Judd, is optimistic that this weekend’s 41st annual Westernationals at Perth Motorplex, Kwinana Beach, will be his Australian championship game-breaker.

Nominations are invited from Full Members of ANDRA for the position of ANDRA Divisional Council Delegate in all ANDRA divisions.

The Southern Super Gas Series heads to Ballarat this Sunday March 4 for the third round of the series. This is another round robin event with the event winner receiving a bonus package of Lucas Oil products.
