The countdown is almost over for the all-new Shannons Queensland Autospectacular, which will be held this Sunday April 10 at Willowbank Raceway.

Following the same format as the popular former Cleveland Auto Spectacular – which was the largest car and bike show and swap meet of its kind in the state – the all-new event will feature approximately 1,000 vehicles of all makes, models and ages on display amongst a whole range of activities for enthusiasts.

Shannons Queensland Auto Spectacular organiser Brian Hall said there were many ways for people to get involved in the event.

“Any vehicle owners who wish to display their pride and joy at the Queensland Autospectacular, no matter what age, type or condition, are welcome to enter – just turn up at the main gate off Champions Way, on Sunday morning 10th April before 9.00am,” said Hall.

“For those vehicle owners who wish to have their show vehicle judged, there are numerous judging categories with great trophies. Entries for judging are limited to the first 200 vehicles that pre-enter, so please phone 0403 960 584 for more information. The trophy presentation will commence at 2.00pm.

“Thanks to the expanded format we have also been able to add some other new attractions, including a ‘Test n Tune’ for vehicles entered for judging or on display, allowing them to run their street registered car or bike on the Willowbank Raceway quarter-mile.

“On top of that we have the inaugural Australian Rocker (Tappet) Cover Racing Championship, to be held on a new purpose built track including electronic start and placing sensors, and a Wheel Changing Competition which should attract some keen rivalry, especially among the attending clubs – who are all invited to pre-book an area within the event where they can show off their members’ vehicles to the public.

“There will be Trade sites selling everything from diecast models, vintage tyres, auto reference books, clothing, motor parts and automobilia, with a few sites still available (Traders are urged to pre-book now by phoning 0403 960 584) and there is a Car Corral where you can book your car in for sale and a large swap area set aside for swappers to sell everything from car parts to bric-a-brac.

“Adding to the great carnival atmosphere, there will be food and drink stalls, great music, and children’s and community activities happening all day. The City of Ipswich has sponsored a large picnic and rest area with shade marquees, tables and chairs, so it is going to be a great day out for all of the family.”

The gates for the Shannons Queensland Auto Spectacular will open to the public at 7.00am. with Public entry for adults only $10 with kids under 14 gaining free entry.
