The countdown is well and truly on for the biggest drag racing event held outside of North America on June 9-12 at Willowbank Raceway. Less than one week till we see the best of the best battle it out to be crowned the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals champion, and take home a coveted gold Christmas tree in the most exciting 400 Thunder event of the year.
Race fans are certainly in for a treat this year with over 360 entrants in the Professional, Performance and Sportsman categories for the Winternationals, and 177 racers participating in the Winter Warm-Ups the weekend before.
“The Gulf Western Oil Winternationals has a lot of elements to brag about, it has the most entries, has the largest crowd, runs for the longest time, sets the most National Records and also has the largest prizemoney pay-out in Australia,” said new 400 Thunder General Manager Jason Hedges.
“With a staggering almost $185,000 in prize money on offer across the 21 professional and sportsman categories, this makes the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals the richest drag racing event in Australia.
“An event you definitely don’t want to miss; it really is the jewel in the crown of drag racing events in Australia,” Hedges concluded.
With all states and territories across Australia represented, in addition to four coming from New Zealand, as well as a strong female contingent, there will definitely be a wide variety of talent at this year’s Winternationals.
