For West Australian drag racing star Anthony Begley, last weekend’s top fuel event at the 2014 Fuchs Winternationals was a successful one and the popular racer looks to carry that form into Mackay’s Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car event at Palmyra Raceway, June 21.
Begley will step out of the for the ‘Chemical Warfare’ dragster and into the new crowd favourite in the Aeroflow show – Stormtrooper.
His runner-up appearance at the Winternationals has confirmed that Begley is not only one of the sharpest racers in the sport, he’s also one of the most adaptable.
The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars utilise a two speed transmission and produce 4000hp, making them one of the trickiest cars come to grips with.
“They are great fun to drive,” explained Begley.
“Palmyra is a great little racetrack too and I think the fans will love these cars with the header flames and the way they move around the race track.”
Begley will be one of 11 cars at the event, the biggest field of nitro cars ever assembled at the popular north Queensland venue.
Series Manager, Steve Bettes has confirmed some tweaks to the running schedule for this event following the hugely successful Benaraby meeting.
“We have made some slight tweaks to the schedule to avoid the dew on the track, so the first run for the nitro-powered cars will be at 4:00pm, followed by 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
“It’s a balance between making sure we make the show as accessible to as many fans as possible and put on the best possible show.”
Bettes concluded “The team at Palmyra are excited about this event and we can’t wait to bring the show to town!”
