Grassroots drag racing was at its absolute best as the inaugural Blacktop Outlaws Festival, presented by Growl Racing, brought horsepower and high-octane entertainment to the Far North Coast of New South Wales at Casino Aerodrome and Showgrounds.

Over the June 20-21 weekend, the town of Casino rumbled to life with the sound of cubic inches and burnout as no-prep drag racing took over the airport runway. Away from the racing, the festival atmosphere continued with live music, street car show and shines, trade displays, family entertainment and a host of attractions that drew huge crowds and created a true community celebration of grassroots motorsport.

While the festival delivered something for everyone, most were here for the serious business unfolding on the Casino airstrip where no-prep racing was showcased in its purest form. Sanctioned by ANDRA, with the Christmas Tree and timing system generously supplied by the Mid Coast Drag Racing Association Inc., a stacked field featuring some incredible machinery battled for supremacy on the unforgiving blacktop, serving up spectacular side-by-side action throughout the weekend.

By the time the smoke had settled, everyone involved could consider themselves winners after a hugely successful inaugural event. However, the following competitors earned the right to take home class honours:

Hard Tire
Dane Turnbull – Winner
Luke Day – Runner Up
Street Tire
Jacob Morgan-Briggs – Winner

The event was a phenomenal success with over 5000 adults and kids attending across the weekend and a supportive community the event can only grow larger in the future.
“This has been a massive task and truly a team effort. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible from Richmond Valley Council, the NSW Office of Sport, ANDRA (our event sanctioning body), and all those working behind the scenes. We are incredibly grateful for the support.” said Growl Racing following the event.

That’s enough reading about the event, when we can show you the action in a monster gallery courtesy of Mav3rickvisuals and some wicked videos.
