Bomber Racing and driver Daniel Grima are gearing up to make their debut in the Pro Stock ranks at the upcoming Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs, set to take place this week at Sydney Dragway. The team will be rolling out their new Chevrolet Camaro, marking a bold new chapter for the experienced outfit.

While it’s their first time lining up in Pro Stock, both the team and Grima are no strangers to drag racing. Having previously campaigned successfully in Super Stock, the transition comes after careful planning, dedication and months of preparation. Grima recently completed his licencing procedures in the car and is now ready to put it through its paces on one of the biggest stages in the sport.
Team owner Michael Grunbaum made the squad’s intentions clear for the 2025 season. “We want to make the car as competitive as we can while still enjoying the journey that comes with racing in Pro Stock,” said Grunbaum.

Daniel Grima’s drag racing roots run deep. He began his racing journey in Super Sedan and Super Gas behind the wheel of an XW ute, before climbing through the Gas classes. Eventually, he found a home in A/Gas, where Bomber Racing’s Toyota Celica turned heads with a best of 7.23 seconds at 188mph. But despite their success, the team opted to park the Celica and begin working towards a Pro Stock campaign.
As has often been the case, Super Stock has once again proven to be a valuable stepping stone for drivers looking to progress to Pro Stock. Grima’s trajectory is a testament to that, and while he may be new to driving in the category, he’s no stranger to its inner workings.
You might recognise Grima from his time crewing for top-tier Pro Stock drivers such as Jason Hedges and, more recently, Chris Soldatos.
“Crewing in the class gave me insight into all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into running one of these cars,” said Grima.
At 46 years old, the Sydney-based driver is staying grounded and focused heading into his first Pro Stock event.
“All I can do is not worry about anything but shifting gears. I’ve got one job – go 1 through 5 and do my job. That’s all I can control,” said Grima.

Reflecting on the journey to get the car on track, team owner Michael Grunbaum expressed deep gratitude for those who made it possible.
“First and foremost, I’d have to thank Peter Ridgeway. He found the car for me and has been incredibly helpful throughout the entire process of getting it race-ready. Also, a massive thank you to my crew and Daniel, I couldn’t have done this without you all. Daniel Grima, Adam Law, Gregory and Damon Grunbaum, and Daniel Ind, you’ve all played a huge role,” he said.
With licencing now complete, Bomber Racing and Daniel Grima are fired up and ready to take on the challenge of racing in Pro Stock. The team has already started collecting valuable data during early test passes and is looking forward to taking part in the tight, competitive racing that the class is known for.
‘We’ve really enjoyed getting some laps in and collecting initial data on the car. Now we’re excited to join the Pro Stock field and see where we stack up,’ said Grunbaum.
Grima echoed the sentiment, praising the team’s hard work and commitment: “I’m extremely grateful to Mick and the whole crew for the amount of work and attention to detail that’s gone into this. These cars aren’t easy to run, so having a dedicated group of people around me means the world.”
Make sure you’re trackside next week for the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs to witness a massive 15-car Pro Stock field battling it out at Sydney Dragway, including the debut of Bomber Racing’s fresh new Camaro and their determined new driver.
