Team Bray promised a show at Sydney Dragway’s Santo’s Summer Thunder event, and they did not disappoint – putting on a Bray v Bray final in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
After taking their Gulf Western Oil Pro Slammers through the first and second rounds with success, Victor Bray lined up against Ben Bray for a highly anticipated battle for the event victory.
While the pair have faced off against each other for bragging rights in the past with each taking their turn at claiming the spoils, this time it was Ben who was able to take the victory with a hole shot and a 5.838 second pass at 247.79 miles per hour.
“It was just great being able to beat Dad in an All Bray final – Gulf Western Oil just makes us go faster!” said Ben Bray.
“Dad is going to be hearing about this one for a while,” he laughed.
“Since making our comeback in Gulf Western Oil colours just one event ago, we have been itching to take a win and to see not just one but both of our Slammers in the final in our just our second competitive event of the season since putting this campaign together is just fantastic.
“We can’t thank everyone who supports us enough – the messages have been flowing in thick and fast and it was really great to hear the crowd cheer and catch up with them in the pits.”
Earlier in the night Ben had taken on and defeated Andrew Searle (round one) and Gary Philips (round two), while Victor dispatched Gary Phillips (round one) and Andrew Searle (round two).
“Of course I want to win, but if anyone is going to beat me, I am glad it was Benny,” said Victor.
“It was a deserved win, but rest assured, I will be doing all I can to get the bragging rights back as soon as possible!”
The Gulf Western Oil-supported Team Bray entertainment for the Sydney Dragway crowd wasn’t limited to the Pro Slammer racing either, with Ben taking out his GWO liveried burnout car to the delight of the crowd.
