Calder Park opens for action again tomorrow with the first event on a brand new surface.

Much of the existing track was torn up and replaced with new concrete and asphalt which should result in a much smoother surface absent of the infamous waves and bumps of the Calder of old.

The team focused on getting rid of the ripples in the left lane’s asphalt and a couple of ‘slight anomalies’ in the right lane. While the big machinery was on hand they also fixed up the pit lane entry/exits as a lot of the Pro Stock and Top Doorslammer drivers found it a little bumpy there.

Meanwhile plenty of new concrete is in place around the startline, with other areas reground for better rubber adhesion. The transition from concrete to asphalt has also been smoothed out, which was one of the biggest problems with the former surface.
The first event is a Sunday test and tune and street meet.

Gates open at 9am and scrutineering bays will be open by 9.30am. Racing begins from 11am.
