Can the champion come back?

ANDRA Pro Series champion Darren Morgan is assured his new car will finally deliver gains for the AEG Powertools team this weekend in round three of the Top Fuel championship at Perth Motorplex.

Morgan was out in the first round of the previous event but importantly for the team he felt they learned a lot from data gained.

“The previous round in Perth was a little disappointing for us, but I’m confident that we now have a baseline setup for the Motorplex that will get us down the track strongly,” he said. “The car that we are using was brand new before the season – so we have been learning with it as we go.

“Perth is a great racetrack and there’s always a huge fan-base that turn out to watch and really immerse themselves in the world’s fastest motorsport”

While Andrew Cowin and Damien Harris are heading the championship, Morgan believes his team can make their impact.

“Championship wise, it’s only early days, so at this stage we’re not too worried about where we sit,” he said. “Getting past the first round is obviously a priority – plus trying to gain the additional points for low E.T. (elapsed time) and the fastest speed.”

Off the track Morgan has been hard at work as well, launching a new website.

“The team has been working with Groovy Tube Digital Media on the site for some time. It is well designed and will give all of our fans the opportunity to keep right up to date with our activities – and we’ll be throwing in a few surprises along the way as well,” he said.

The event runs over two nights with qualifying on Friday, January 27 followed by eliminations on Saturday, January 28. The ANDRA Pro Series action of both nights starts at 6pm.

Tickets are available from $31 for general admission and can be purchased ahead of the event from motorplex.com.au or at the gate.
