Cannuli keen for a repeat performance

After his recent win in Top Alcohol at the Pro Series 1000 in Adelaide, John Cannuli is riding high and is pumped at the prospect of a repeat performance this Queens Birthday long weekend at Willowbank Raceway for the FUCHS Winternationals.

Team Crossroads will once again have their hands full running and maintaining two Pro Series Group One vehicles being the Wash It Australia Top Alcohol Funny Car and the PC Cranes 1967 Camaro Top Doorslammer.
“This year has been very rewarding at times” commented John “We went to Adelaide confident that we would do well at the first ever 1000ft drag racing event and after qualifying third we were pretty happy.”

“To then walk away with the win as well as the National Record for Low ET (4.898) and Top Speed (226mph) was a dream come true. That weekend is now etched in the history books and we couldn’t be prouder that we are there as the first winners of our class.” he added

The FUCHS Winternationals will also mark the first anniversary of the team competing in the uber competitive Top Doorslammer category. In his debut season behind the wheel of the PC Cranes Camaro, John achieved his first 5 second pass which ironically failed to qualify him in the 8 car field at the Nitro Champs in Sydney last month.

“To run a 5, our first in the Doorslammer and not qualify was absolutely gut wrenching. The team worked so hard and even though it was a good result time wise, it just goes to show you how tough the bracket is BUT the FUCHS Winternationals is the place to turn it all around and we’ll be doing our best to get back into the 5 second zone and the field” Cannuli concluded.

If focusing on the job of racing in two different categories wasn’t mind altering enough, bear in mind John will also be concentrating on willing his wife and the mother of his children to licence and qualify for her first Pro Stock event.

Kirsten Tucker is required to complete a full quarter mile pass in her family’s RTR Holden Monaro to the satisfaction of the ANDRA Stewards and if successful, she will gain her licence to become Australia’s first ever female Pro Stock Driver. Tucker will be the third member of her family to compete in Pro Stock following in her father Rob and younger brother Shane’s footsteps.

Keep an eye out for this FAST FAMILY at the FUCHS Winternationals | Willowbank Raceway | June 8 – 11
