Powercruise has joined forces with Crossroads Racing for this weekend’s Castrol Edge Winternationals prior to taking their show to the USA for the first time this July.
The largest drag race outside of North America will host a first for the Crossroads team as well when Top Alcohol pilot John Cannuli competes in two categories – Top Doorslammer and Top Alcohol.
Cannuli is very excited about joining a select list of drivers to compete in dual ANDRA Pro Series categories when he takes to the wheel of the newest addition to the Crossroads stable, an ex-Rick Stivers Pro Mod Camaro which was purchased here in Australia.
“I really like driving the Doorslammer,” John said. “It’s a real challenge to drive and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel again, it’s a lot of fun.”
Last weekend’s Winters Warm Up saw Cannuli licence the Camaro with a 6.82/162mph on his first run, then a 6.13/220mph and a 6.81 on his final pass.
“The Doorslammer is surprisingly very comfortable and after doing just a handful of runs in it, I feel totally ready to take on the world class Winternationals,” he said. “And to have an international event like Powercruise support our racing is awesome! Gup and his team are committed to providing outstanding events and we’re confident we’ll be able to provide them with some solid results.”
Adding to the team’s heavy Winternationals workload is John’s Wash It Australia Top Alcohol Funny Car and after his recent win at the Nitro Champs, the Crossroads camp are looking to finish the season on a high. On his way to the final in Sydney John ran the car’s quickest time of 5.598/256mph which gave him low ET and top speed bonus points of the event.
In a perfect world, the team would love do it all again and take home their second Top Alcohol win for the season as well as debut the Top Doorslammer in a mind blowing fashion.
